Hurray for Halloween. Yeah I'm excited for the holiday (can I call it a holiday? Oh wait, this is my blog, I sure can!) but I'm more excited for it to be over only because between work and home IT'S ALL I HEAR ABOUT!!!!!! Ok, no really I'm good.
Don't get me wrong I love Halloween, the costumes, the candy, the children wired like they are on crack and going on very little sleep and the parents that then go "Have a great day" and flee the premises in their cars to a building of quiet. Plus I'll have two new children start in my class that day so it should be choice. I hope someone puts tequila in my goody bag!
So of course the big question is what are the monkeys dressing up as? Orignally Logan had a great idea to be a carrot from one of our favorite books "The Runaway Dinner". She had talked about it for about two months. So last Saturday we went to try to find the stuff for me to make it for her. Our first mistake was going into the Halloween store. After that the carrot went out the window. By the way, any readers out there with young girls...are any of you disturbed by the costumes now? They all look slutty, even the witches and faries...otherwise you are stuck with Disney brand costumes. And the prices?!?!? 40 dollars for chintzy fabric? What happened to creative costumes? One year I was a bag of M&Ms that my mom made out of a brown pillowcase and paint that costume rocked. But I digress, anyway after some screaming, pouting and arguing, I finally calmed down and got back to the letting my children make their own decisions...man sometimes I hate that : )
So Logan decided on Minnie Mouse, to be honest it was because she didn't want to wear any of her princess costumes from home, and that's what she's been the last two years. It's cute on her and most important she likes it. Nora proved to be a bigger challenge only because we couldn't find anything in her size (our faults for waiting until two weeks before Halloween). To go with the carrot, Nora was going to be a bunny, as it turns out she's going to be a duck...and a cute one at that, she loves her costume!
So all that's left is to carve the pumpkin (yes we're last minute) and put out the candy. Charles will be home from Chi-town in the afternoon, my parents are coming over because there are no kids in their neighborhood anymore and it should be a fun evening for most.
Good spooking to all, be safe, have fun and hey at least the weather will be nice this year. First time in like 20 years I think!
